FSC’s Answer to AIM Dead Before it Started

For all the hype given to it by the adult press the half Ass attempt byt the FSC to come up with a replacement for AIM has failed, miserably!

Not sure why they thought they could compete in this market with a higher price and or some sort of membership requirement but it has died before it ever even got started. Nothing at all has been said or done about it since June, and as has come to be expected from the FSC they simply dropped the ball on it, never giving it the follow through that would have been required to make it work. Sound familiar?

Yes the FSC is mighty short on anything that anyone might call follow through.

Truth is the FSC has pretty much outlived it's usefulness and is most likely going to die off. Lack of industry confidence, lack of leadership focus and simple goals have all but gutted the membership, there is no way that they can continue to pay bloated salaries and retainers with their biggest benefactors like AVN, either pulling out entirely or cutting way back on handouts.

While I always thought the idea of an organization like the FSC was a good one the execution was horrid, plaqued with inept leadership and resource draining parasites it never did really get a foothold in any meaningful way. There was never any personal or financial responsibility.

So is there any doubt really that APHSS would fail? I certainly called it from day one. Most of you knew I was right too, though many of you wouldn't admit it openly.

One could look around the biz today and see that any former glory we once may have had has long been lost...Wicked is advertising to you as you download their latest releases for free on thepiratebay, Steven Hirsch embarrasses not only himself but everyone in the industry every time he opens his cocksucker to trade in any respectability for some tabloid headlines.

There's a few people out there still trying to deliver a quality product at a good price and not sell out the industry but they are becoming fewer and farther between.

The Problem With AIM and The FSC All Starts Here

When I read this account of AIM's early history a lot of things became abundantly clear, from Sharon Mitchell to Jeffery Douglas to the FSC, you get a good picture of what was fundamentally wrong with each organization to begin with, and why they are all doomed to fail, as AIM already has.

The words are glaring for a number of reasons, suggesting that Mitchell, besides running AIM, might have been filling in as a licensed practitioner of medicine. I found it very odd that Mitchell would say that. Bill Margold, who’s been at odds with Mitchell over the years, found it more disturbing.

“Needle and thread? Why doesn’t she [Mitchell] start by sewing her mouth up first,” comments Margold dryly.

“What the fuck is that all about? I couldn’t believe it. I had to read it again. Are we now to believe that Mitchell was a surgeon and was sewing up ruptured, prolapsed assholes?”

That today’s writers are continually on a hunt to link porn to violence is no different than when the Meese Commission did it. Margold testified before that group and got off many memorable quips, quoted to this day..

“I remember saying that porn put you to sleep- once you got off, you went to sleep. We’re a mastubatory catharsis designed to get society off rather than someone going out in the street with a hatchet.”

But Margold’s convinced that a quote like Mitchell's is someone desperate for a sound bite and to keep their names in the press.

“Mitchell’s comment was insane,” opines Margold, wondering if Mitchell has ever told the truth.

“Over the years she’s said things like she met the dog that worked with Linda Lovelace. On the set. How old is Mitchell?”

[Had Mitchell been of legal age at the time of Deep Throat, she’d be at least 57 years old; but Mitchell apparently began working in porn while underage.]

Margold also remembers Mitchell telling him that she doubled for actress Sandy Duncan [Duncan is 65] in the Broadway production of Peter Pan, and for actor Michael Sarazin in The Resurrection of Peter Proud. Margold doesn’t buy any of it.

“She and the truth are poles about, but that thing about sewing up assholes is unfuckingbelievable.”

If you’re looking for a seminal moment, AIM’s origins and Mitchell’s ascendancy to power within the adult business began with an offhand comment Margold made to Inari Vachs.

Mitchell was incensed by it and circulated a petition to have Margold extracted from PAW. Before AIM came on the scene, PAW [Protecting Adult Welfare] was handling the testing of performers.

“I guess I was ‘unprofessional’ with the way I had been handling the PAW office [located where World Modeling is] where the blood was being taken after the Marc Wallice-thing began to explode,” shrugs Margold.

“This was all basically early 1998 and AIM was created within the first two weeks of May. Mitchell didn’t like the way I was handling the patients because I was much more blunt about people getting sick. One day Inari Vis sitting in the office crying. She asked why this was happening and I said this is what happens when you treat your vagina like a trash can. A lot more than HIV is going to crawl in there and get you. Mitchell heard that and began screaming. ’You’re not fit for this office!’

“I told her I was more than fit because I tell them the truth. I practice what is known as the deep wound theory.”

Unimpressed by that answer, Mitchell immediately began circulating the petition to remove Margold from the medical participation of the organization, PAW which Margold established upon the death of performer Savannah.

It was during the summer of 1997 at the VSDA show that Margold was first approached by attorney Jeffrey Douglas with Douglas informing him that Mitchell was now going to work out of the PAW office for an hourly rate.

“I said, what? Nobody gets paid being involved with PAW,” Margold recalls. Douglas told him differently.

“Oh yeah we’re going to start her at $12.50 an hour. [Which, within six months, erupted to $25 an hour.] What am I going to do, start arguing in the middle of a convention floor? So Mitchell starts showing up making calls, reminding people to get their blood taken at these other facilities. Pretty soon we setup a facility in the PAW office. We got a little school chair, have a sink and we bring in this incredible woman known as The Golden Possum.”

Margold, who addressed himself to keeping the books, quickly explains that he wasn’t involved per se in the drawing of blood, that it was this woman's job to do that.

“She was an ex heroin addict along with Mitchell. She was adorable and so cool. I was immediately in awe of this woman being around. She had this very dry sense of humor. I never really understood where she came from, but she had this daughter named The Little Possum. I started having fun watching Mitchell become power mad in an organization that wasn’t about money.”

Mitchell’s salary, incidentally, was footed by Free Speech.

Margold was also having his battles with Douglas and realized he was in a no-win situation. Then, when Vachs stormed out of the office, Mitchell took that as a cue to make her move.

“I didn’t know how power mad she [Mitchell] was, but I did realize she was all about money. Mitchell starts screaming that I have to go. I said I’m not going anywhere. This is my goddamn office. She said I’ll see about that!

"The next day I’m shown a petition. The first person to sign it is Tony Tedeschi. The second person to sign it was [the late] Shawn Ricks. He couldn’t wait to get rid of me. He said I was bad for the business.”

Margold, who had been out of town when the petition first circulated, had no attention of leaving.

“Mitchell’s glaring at me from across the room. I wrote down three letters on a piece of paper: A-I-M. I showed it to her. She goes, wha? I said AIM. She said it looks like PAIN. I said, no, AIM. What are you seeing? I tell her what it means.

"She runs across the hall makes a phone call. Three minutes later I get a call from Jeffrey Douglas thanking me. I knew I had to get Mitchell away from me so I gave her, her own organization.

“Jeffrey was happy and got an immediate non-profit status for her. But there was nowhere for her to go. So for the entire summer I was treated as a third rate human being trying to keep the offices alive. Then the last day of August, 1998 I moved her over to the location on Ventura Blvd.

"She brought two recovering drunks in to help me move the furniture. Within an hour they were wasted in an alley. I was literally carrying one of her desks up to her office upstairs. It fell on top of me. She ran over to see how the desk was, basically more concerned that I may have hurt her precious desk. It was 112 degrees that day. I was dehydrating as fast as possible. God knows how much weight I lost.

"Mitchell turns to me and goes what do I do now? I go, welcome to hell. You’re in business.”

Just How Inept IS The FSC? Your AIM Data Is STILL Online

Remember months ago when I pointed out that your compromised AIM data is still online via AIMS Database? Well guess what? Yup its STILL up. They did change the collection dates and remove the results but your real name and dob and all that is still there for all to see.

This is what the FSC considers taking action? What a bunch of complete fuck ups.

Jeffery Douglas was AIMS attorney and he is the FSC attorney yet he cant even manage to get that shit taken down?

And you people want the FSC to administer your testing? are you people fucking INSANE? I mean REALLY?

The FSC recently announced their program Adult Health & Safety Services, aka APHSS which is meant to be a replacement for the now defunct AIM.

Great:-) Monthly testing is the adult industry’s self imposed regulations that enable the risk of STI’s and HIV being dramatically reduced.

Ela Darling recently gave the following quote defending the industry’s protocol, as a rebuttal to Cal Osha’s attempts to force the use of condoms on set:

“As an adult performer in the porn industry, the proposed changes to Cal/OSHA frighten and infuriate me…. As an individual and as a performer, I would rather have unprotected sex with someone whom I know for sure has been tested for HIV, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia in the past thirty days, than have barrier-protected sex with someone whose STD status is either unknown or positive.” via AVN.com

The majority of the industry favors the option of choice in the use of condoms in conjunction with regular testing. So APHSS is a awesome, right?

Not the way it currently is set up.

The FSC claims that there is no linkage of performer names and legal names in the APHSS database, and that no “health data” is stored there, only the performer’s legal name and work availability.

OK. Except…

PornWikiLeaks hasn’t even been down for a month yet, but somehow memories seem to be fading of exactly what information was used against us to perpetuate that organized harassment and terror. For the majority of us, it wasn’t “health data” that fueled the fire of that hell, it was the mere linkage of our legal names with our performer names, which just happened to be obtained by a medical database breach.

Maggie Mayhem realized this just last week when she became aware of painfully lingering online harassment efforts of a member of PWL that occurred months ago.

PWL used the linkage of her performer name and her legal name to spam the FaceBook profile page of her elementary school class, stating she (legal name) was a whore who went by Maggie Mayhem (performer name). The post had been made 5 months ago and was only discovered last week.

The following is from her twitter stream the day the revelation took place..

Although adult performer’s legal names were gleaned from a medical database breach, the majority of the damage we sustained was due to legal name linkage, not the actual health data from the breach.

For some, that harassment didn’t stop at a mere one hateful paragraph template based wiki on the PornWikiLeaks site, it delved further into their lives, taking google earth images of their homes, digging up & posting private phone numbers, targeting the children of some adult performers, via the children’s facebook pages, or even worse, posting images of adult performer’s children on PornWikiLeaks itself.

Clearly, the issue isn’t just about “health data”. It’s also about your privacy, and the need to maintain anonymity, even if it’s a struggle.

The Free Speech Coalition posted via their twitter account, a link to the following article, entitled Do You Use Your Real Name Online? It’s an interesting article for them to post, perhaps it’s to condition adult performers for future potential personal privacy violation issues that APHSS may have a part in.

The initial “pre-registration” phase of APHSS asked for a performer’s legal name, performer name, and Driver’s License number, among other things.

Hmm.. wasn’t that the exact same info that was leaked during the AIM data breach, and subsequently provided the building blocks of PornWikiLeaks?

The signup process at the time I actually wrote this only asked for your email and legal name, which is a far cry better than the pre registration incarnation. However it now asks for your email, legal name, and phone number.

But there’s still the potential for real name linkage to your performer name, should anyone ever gain access to the log files that hold the registration information.

Hmmm… I didn’t see a warning on the signup page encouraging performers to use an email address that has no reference to their performer name, did you?

No.

So APHSS must be safeguarding our personal information with air tight security, right?

It doesn’t appear that way to me.

On the FSC’s blog site, the following was stated as part of their announcement of APHSS, “Furthermore, we are very grateful to Dave Astels, who generously donated his time and database expertise“.

Ok, so who is Dave Astels?

Dave Astels until recently worked for EngineYard.com, has a Wikipedia.org page, and his own tech blog. His expertise is in database architecture, and he’s quite skilled at programming in Ruby from what I gather.

However, Dave Astels is not a security programmer or consultant, as is evident by his easily accessible blog file library.

Upon a recent statement and consequent query via twitter to the FSC stating that I hope they had a security programmer involved in the design of APHSS, I was first ignored by the FSC itself, and then attacked by a boyfriend of an FSC member, in a clear attempt to shame me into not raising concerns. It was pointed out to me a bit later that it’s kind of odd that the FSC lets him speak on behalf of the FSC, and yet, he claims to have no direct affiliation with them. Even more odd is the intensity of his rantings.

I realized there were a few I missed in the initial screencaps, so I utilized Topsy.com

So I took a superficial look at APHSS myself..

Please note that I am NOT a computer security expert, though I do know a few, and have gained an active interest ever since Porn Wikileaks.

When programming in Ruby, the output is usually PHP..

Upon easy query, it showed that APHSS runs on a very outdated version of php, version 5.2.1.

By going to php.net, I found that the most current version of php is 5.3.6

Here are a list of the vulnerabilities that have been updated since 5.2.1 was released.

Wow. ”Over 100 bug fixes”. That’s a whole lot of ways for someone who’s dedicated to get at the potential real names of adult performers. And that was actually a pretty easy breadcrumb trail to track, since my only qualifications are supposedly “crushing men’s privates for $”.

So when the FSC Membership Director Joanne Cachapero makes the following statement, “Our number one priority is the privacy and well-being of performers, as well as continuing health and safety standards for the protection of adult productions” as part of the announcement of the official launch of APHSS, what do you think of that statement?

APHSS has done one thing right so far by creating an advisory board that includes well known and articulate representatives from the adult performer community. ”The performer representatives are Jessica Drake, Bobbi Starr, Danny Wylde and Steve Cruz.… Performer Nina Hartley will serve as Educational Advisor.”

Maybe they finally grasped the idea of “with us, not for us” as it pertains to creating policy that effects a specific group of people.

Hopefully, the advisory board can impress upon them the importance of keeping adult performer’s legal names from being linked to their performer names, and take the “extraordinary measures” Mr Whiteacre scoffed at publicly to ensure that happens.

My Thoughts On The Performer Database

OK I am getting this a lot you want to know what I think of the new FSC performer database but the FSC, as usual, has released much of anything with substance. They say no personal identifying information will be stored in the database, if that is the case then the ONLY way to insure you are looking at the right test is with biometrics (finger print scan, eye scan etc) I somehow don't see them doing that.

There is no indication of any data encryption, system failsafes, intrusion detection or security auditing (who did exactly what and when)

It is my understanding that to even be in this system you have to pay the FSC 600 dollars a year and that the testing price is higher than talent testing.

The question that you as a performer have to ask yourself is....Do I trust the FSC?

If the answer is no steer clear.

You have the power in this situation, if you reject it, it dies, plain and simple.

I am spending hours a day getting people removed from the last fuck up (which I might add is STILL UP!) Thats right the original AIM database is still online and accessible.

Would I trust the FSC here...not in a million years.....Will I fix this shit a second time? NO!

Next time you are going to have to count on the FSC to fix it, I can't do this again.

I wouldn't accept an AIM test, ever as a result guess how many of the girls who shot only for me ended up on PWL.....ZERO

AIM 2.0 Half Ass Appears

they announced four new testing centers that will be participating in the Half Ass Testing and will be populating the new Half Ass Database with your test info.

My response to The FSC was:

Have we learned nothing here?

The FIRST question ANYONE should be asking is How do we know it is SECURE

What is being done to insure performer privacy? Database security? system accountability? system auditing?

This is just AIM 2.0 it would seem

BTW AIM 1.0 is till up and accessible even though every test on it (many over 5 years old) has been out of date for MONTHS.

I have gone through hell and back dealing with the problems from the last one AND NOT A SINGLE ONE OF MY GIRLS was involved. I did it to try to help when nobody else (FSC) would.

Lets learn from our mistakes here people just say NO to HalfAss or whatever they call it.

I don't think that the FSC would be so stupid as to give out the details of their security measures.

I feel comfortable knowing that knowledgeable industry professionals have designed the system to be as secure as possible.

However, I think anything can be hacked given enough resources and time. Nothing is 100% unhackable if it is connected to a network, has a keyboard or has an open port.

Such is modern life.....

The pricing has been set for the FSC APHSS it will be as follows:

$150 per test

$50 a year per performer

$250 a month per producer

150 a test? SERIOUSLY? Theres a fail for you.

50.00 a year dues for performers and 250.00 for producers? What have you done to even consider asking for this money?

Talent testing is way cheaper for the same tests with the same database, why would anyone pay more and have to join a union to do it?

The FSC Says…Nothing Really

The big news .... The FSC is going to maintain the new replacement for the AIM database, and the big security improvement, it will be PASSWORD PROTECTED! Wait? WHAT? this makes it different from AIMS database how?

Here's the problem you morons have to be able to deal with, in the event of a security breach of your database will you be able to say exactly whom accessed exactly what information, exactly when? That means you have to take into account password sharing and shit like that.

The answer is no, I can already tell you that

The other big part of the announcement is that the FSC is NOT going to get into the testing business but will make a list of preferred healthcare providers available to talent to wipe their asses with....no wait....

what they didn't answer is WHO the providers would be, WHAT services they would offer at WHAT Price, WHEN theses services would be in Place and WHERE to go. GEE that spells FAIL in my book.

Come on guys, seriously, can't you do better than this? what the fuck?
