I tuned in to watch the Tera Show last night. At first I didn’t notice anything unusual, the screen was solid black but only a little moreso than normal, I figured Tera was wearing Black from head to toe, combine that with her dark hair, the black sofa, the black backdrop and I was guessing OK its Video Team Night, Maybe her guests are Mr. Marcus and Lexington Steele. The audio wasn’t coming in but thats not unusual either, and it was only a smidge more boring than normal.

After about ten minutes it occured to me (OK I was doing other stuff too) that something was wrong…wrong indeed…The Tera Show was Dark, I mean its always dark but it was not on, evidently the saying The Show Must Go On doesn’t apply to the Tera Show. It seems that Tera’s ultra fine puss is in Germany or someplace for some awards show.

KSEX DUMPS TERA SHOW (Burbank, CA) - After only two Tera Show’s broadcast, KSEXradio.com, has decided, at least temporarily, to cease airing the Digital Playground based show. “Let me make it real clear,” stated KSEXradio Program Director, Wankus, “there are no conflicts between our two organizations and no bad blood.” Wankus made a point that the reason for removing the live program, usually seen the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, was because of technical and quality issues. “Having worked for major mainstream broadcast players, I used to mock our studio set up, saying that it was pieced together by Band-Aids.” Wankus continued, “Shockingly, it really is many obvious notches up in quality, as compared to the studio Tera uses.” The Tera Show, which does their broadcast from the Digital Playground offices, uses only one direction microphone for it’s audio, hovered over the guest couch. The quality of the microphone is low and as a result not only offers poor sound, but picks up a lot of distracting room noise. Other quality issues included the dark background on the web cams, which makes it difficult for viewers to see Tera and the guests clearly. The stream has a lot of cut outs as well, sometimes buffering or completely down for up to three or four minutes. “That’s too much time for listeners to get bored or frustrated and tune out,” remarked Wankus. KSEXradio offered Digital Playground full access to their studios for the Tera Patrick broadcast, but the gesture was declined at this time. In video porn I have ripped of by numerous distributors who bought my product and never paid for it, or filed bankruptcy only to reopen under a new name. The best paying distributors ran 90 days late and one of the biggest was consistantly 270 days late, then bounced checks.

I have had my titles resold at catalog without my permission by Arrow, who promised to make good and do the right thing but never did.

I have had titles duplicated and resold in clamshell boxes. I have been lied to and cheated and swindled all by people who pretend to be my friends.

I am not saying everyone in the video biz is a con artist but by god we have more than our quota.

On the other hand I have scumbags like personalporn rip off my content and resell all the while Jill Kelly is their spokesperson, when I asked Jill about this she said she knew Personalporn was ripping us off but hey they paid her…

BUT I have also done business with a LOT of net porners who are completely honest, always pay on time, never bounce a check and are good businessmen and women.

All things being equal I prefer to do business with the net porners, and it seems the ones who are con artists and scumbags…well lets just say they learned from the best.

When I think of the video companies in Porn Valley the thing that strikes me most is how they all claim to strive for something different, something cutting edge. The truth is none of them really do anything different. Porners are like a flock of blackbirds sitting on a phone wire, one takes off in a particular direction and all the rest follow, when it returns to the wire, all the rest follow. Very few are truly doing anything innovative or new and as soon as one does everyone else immediately follows suit. The whole rap porn thing going on right now is a good example, everyone is in on it all the rappers want to get with the pornchicks and porn is so starved for anything even remotely resembling mainstream acceptance that we embrace even washed up has beens like snoop dog. We could easily say that we are opposed to what they are doing. What would that accomplish? They are private companies making business decisions. The same kind of decisions that we insist our own member companies be allowed to make.

The only possible area I can see where we could present an argument for governmental relief is under the laws regarding restraint of trade, but we would lose there too, because the CC companies can argue, very powerfully, that it would be restraint of their trade rights for the government to step into this situation, which the government would be most unlikely to do anyway.

How come you only write me when you’re pissed about something? Actually I appreciate your gadfly nature. I wish there was something “real,” not just publicity BS, that FSC could do to help the Inet guys on this issue. I know it is a big problem, but as most of the larger players say, it has to be looked at as a cost of doing business, and companies will find other ways of getting the revenue stream back, i.e., pre-paids, piggy-back billings, etc.
