ICM Registry v.FSC?:

It seems the overwhelming majority of the people in the Free Speech Coalition are, in fact, against this unholy alliance to ramrod through the .xxx Top Level Domain. One thing you can bet your ass on, this is ALL about the money. Jason (The Snake) Hendales, The HWMIC at ICM Registry is fond of telling us how the government CAN’T regulate the domain. But you can bet your sweet ass The Snake won’t be there when we HAVE to defend ourselves from the Government.

Face it This is all about making money and ICM Registry stands to make a pretty penny if this passes. Jason and everyone else from ICM Registry could give a fuck what happens once he starts selling the domains, all he wants is the money.

The Snake Strikes:

Word I am getting is that Jason “The Snake” knows that given the current membership, the unholy alliance he is trying to forge to lead us all into slaughter is probably going to fail. Is that going to stop The Snake? NO. He packed the FSC meeting with “new members” and they are joining the FSC at a pretty high rate….hey at 50 bucks a pop the 5 Grand it would cost ICM Registry to stack the deck with 100 members voting for him is peanuts, way cheaper than trying to buy off the votes currently there. Lets face it even 50 Grand is nothing compared to what he will make if this .XXX Trojan Horse becomes a reality.

The FSC is wise to this effort, I applaud them so far, lets see if they can stand thier ground…Hell I might even join.

If for no other reason than to tell The Snake and ICM Registry to drag your sorry asses back to Canada then FUCK OFF AND DIE!

The Future of .xxx May be Decided Tonight.

Jason “The Snake” Hendales from ICM Registry in Canada is going to propose to ICANN the adoption of a new .xxx top level domain. I have chronicled this in earlier pieces here. Tonight the Free Speech Coalition board will vote on this proposal. The fate of the .xxx domain jst may lie in their hands. Without the FSC support it seems likely that ICANN will again reject the .xxx domain idea as they did once before. With the support of the FSC, it is believed that the idea has a chance. So much so that ICM registries has offered the FSC “renumeration” in the amount of a substantial percentage of the revenue, I’m not talking single or even low double digits, I’m talking as much as half.

To those in the FSC who are more beholden to the almighty dollar this seems like a great way to line their pockets.

To those in the FSC who are concerned about the welfare of the adult industry this seems like a great way to zone ourselves into a cyber ghetto.

I urge the FSC to reject this unholy alliance and send Jason and ICM Registry packing.

As soon as I know the results of the vote, I will post it here.

That’s right I am PRAISING the Free Speech Coalition! In a resounding defeat of 6-2 the board voted AGAINST support of the .xxx top level domain. I am told the two yes votes were from Walters and Piconelli, both attorneys with the most to gain from its passage. Thankfully cooler and less avaricious heads prevailed and even though the FSC stood to get a substantial amount of money from each domain sold, the board did the right thing and sent Jason “The Snake” Hendales and ICM Registry back to Canada empty handed.

I have been critical of the FSC in the past but today they get nothing but my highest praise. I hope that this marks a turning point for the FSC and that they will fix some of their past problems and turn themselves into an organization that we can all support and be proud of.

I apologize for not having this up sooner but I was shooting today….Besides I gotta let AVN get a scoop every now and then

So why is it everyone seems to be pointing the finger of blame at us? Child abusers go where the children are, there are no children in porn.

This leads me to another thought and that is whether the record keeping Act would hold up in the first place. Sure we have a responsibility in this biz to make sure that whoever works for us is of legal age but what about people who sell tobacco and alcohol, they are equally if not more dangerous to children. Do they have to keep a record of every sale?

This legislation presumes that we are guilty and makes us prove our innocence.

We are forced to turn over evidence without the need for a search warrant or any probable cause that a crime has been commited.

The new changes place unnecessary burdens on the manufacturers in how the files are required to be maintained, it isn’t as simple as keeping IDs. we have to ID every photo, every performer, every alias the performer ever filed under, every video and it must all be cross referenced. I do this on a database, but what if they came in and claimed they couldn’t access the server? Would I be in violation? and assuming that everyone is over 18 exactly what crime was commited other than the records weren’t available at the time of inspection? Y’all know how adamant I am about this biz policing itself and working to make the industry more responsible but this seems to be a clear violation of several constitutionally protected rights, including the models right to privacy.

HD, HDV and Porn:

This is more for you tech geeks really…most people (even in porn consider HDV to be the same as HD (High Def)…It isnt.

Having shot recently with both a 100K (as in dollars ) Sony Varicam and with a much less expensive (around 6K) FX1 A few things jump out at me.

First the difference in picture quality on even the best TV sets is negligible, it seems HDV is exceptionally well suited to how porn is shot…no compositing, simple hard cuts or fades and shots held MUCH longer than in regular TV.

The varicam is a huge camera and can’t be shot hand held, you probably could with a steadcam rig but even at that it would take a helluva man to do it all day. On the other hand the HDV camera lends itself well to shooting handheld. What does this mean to porners? A lot actually, features can be shot with a Varicam with relative ease but the vast majority of porn is gonzo, which doesn’t much lend itself to a camera on a tripod type of shooting situation so HDV is clearly a better choice at this time for that style of shooting.

The guys shooting HD on the 100K cameras are prone to look down their noses at HDV but if its whip out you want to play HDV may not be quite as sharp but the versatility beats HD hands down.

I played with a copy of Vegas Video 6, which edits HD, HDV and everything else for a fraction of the price you’d pay for Final Cut Pro and I found Vegas to be surprisingly professional. The audio tools are excellent and the interface is intuitive, additionally the encoding is about twice as fast as Final Cut on the same clips. It appears that less money doesn’t necessarily mean inferior quality.

The biggest advantage to both formats was the ability to get beautiful frame grabs…that are certainly high enough quality for boxcover shots and better quality than most websites are now posting…Maybe I will post a few for your inspection.

So what does all this mean…well consider it a kind of public service for those of you who havent made the leap to HD yet…specially if you are shooting something other than features…It could be that HDV offers a great interim solution until HD becomes less bulky and less pricey..chances are your viewers…even the ones with HiDef TVs wont see any difference.

First, a listing of Tyler’s [Faith] grub at my BBQ this past weekend. Hamburger, Steak, Chicken, corn, salad and lemonade. My menu included much of the same only with a few hot dogs and a-lotta-more steak! In other words…we get and agree with the food chain and basic life hide needs.

That said, not speaking for others who made public statements but moreso for me and Tyler…what really pissed us off wasn’t so much the hunting and killing of an animal. We can accept the fact that hunting exists for necessity AND for sport and while the thought of it bothers us, we aren’t going to have a Million Buffalo March over it at the White House. What really got our goat (if I may use that term) is the fact that these girls were laughing about it and bragging about fucking with their kills on film. They were bragging and laughing about pissing on the animals and when pointed out that their comments were controversial, made light of it saying, “who gives a shit, I come from an area that hunting runs in our blood.” That’s cool, but hunting and fucking while relieving bladders on the carcasses is a little extreme in our opinion.

I don’t know enough about PETA to be PRO or CON the organization. I’m sure many stars use their name as a way of over dramatizing and getting attention. I bet half the stars that cry that their going to go to PETA about something don’t even know the website address or a contact phone number. Regardless, I’m sure there’s plusses to having someone look out for defenseless creatures, even if they may have their own political agenda at times.

It’s obviously affecting a lot of people. Genesis Magazine just pulled Daisy Duxxx from their Beaver Hunt contest and press released it.

There has been a lot of talk about this whole water buffalo incident. It’s amazing that people have made this big a deal out of it. People kill for sport all the time. There’s countless videos of people’s safaris. People kill all kinds of animals in Africa that you never would think would be on the list. I met someone one who actually hunted a giraffe once. The whole time I’m listening to him, I was thinking “why would anyone want to kill a fucking giraffe?” As someone who is pro gun (obviously), I’ve never felt the urge to hunt. There is not a duck or deer on this planet that has to fear me. When I glance at these hunting videos that play on loops during gun shows, it turns my stomach. It’s the same feeling I get when I see a Max Hardcore film and he’s pretty much beating the shit out of a girl! Same feeling I got when Rocco basically choked out Savannah Samson in An Angel in Paris.

There’s an old saying that goes “clean up your own backyard.” Don’t break out into tears about a buffalo while you are wearing leather boots. Over the years, most of the people I’ve met that are against hunting and killing animals are wearing at least three of them between their shoes, pants, belt and coat. Don’t hurt the Buffalo but fucking kill that animal that my boots are made out of. Momma’s got to look good tonight. Club that fucking seal if it makes me fashionable. As brutal as it is, hunting will always be around. It’s a way of life. 98% of the hunters out there do it the right way and consume the animal. Ignore the the company and they’ll go away. The more attention they get, the more money they make, the longer they stay. Heaven forbid you they get the NRA on their side. I’ve seen them take a stand on things like this, even when they shouldn’t, because they interpreted as trying to take their gun rights away. It’s a fight the porn industry doesn’t need.

Now AVN has come out and stated on the record how appalled they are that someone in our biz would harm an animal for someone elses sexual pleasure. they are railing about how someone like this could bring unwanted attention by the feds to our little squeeky clean industry.

Now on the one hand I am an old school conservationist. That means if you eat what you kill I have no problem with you killing it. Nature designed the food chain and predators are indeed a necessary part of that food chain. Guess what? Humans are, in fact predators, and we are in fact a part of that food chain.

On the other hand I have a serious problem with killing anything just to kill it. That shit is wrong at any level you wanna look at it.

But what amuses me here is that most of the people crying aout and wailing over this Buffalo have no problem grilling chickens, eating Wendy’s Burgers…whatever…is it hypocrisy? Of course it is…but then they didn’t kill that cow or those chickens up close and personal….They let someone else do it.

I do applaud AVN for finally taking a stance on something but to say that these people are going to bring undue attention to our industry while you give praise to morons like Rob Black and Khan Tusion is nothing short of being…well disingenuous.
