Why Wankus Isn’t As Smart As He Thinks He Is:

Wankus has wasted no time defending himself in his abysmally poor interview with Steven Baldwin. His main line of defense (when he wasn’t impugning the educational background of my fellow southerners) was that he didn’t want to turn it into a brawl.

I’m not sure where Wankus figures that an intelligent debate with someone over ideology has to be a brawl. Take this particular posting for example, It isn’t combative.

I said that Wankus failed to do his homework and I stand by that, but moreover he failed as an interviewer.

Wankus never once pursued Mr Baldwin in regard to his true purpose, one simple question to Mr Baldwin would have and should have set the tone for the night.

That question is: “Do you believe that the government should use force to impose your views on pornography on American Citizens?”

It’s a powerful question and it goes right to the heart of what all this bruhaha is about. But it seems only us “uneducated southerners” have enough sense to understand that.

Instead of getting to the heart of it Wankus and Tyler simply sat back and allowed Mr Baldwin to run rough shod over the people in this industry, even trotting out the old secondary effects argument, an argument which Wankus accepted even though it has long since been disproven.

And just because one person at KSEX is ignorant of this doesn’t mean that all of them are.

Land Of The Free?:

It’s almost time to head to the ballot box and it has gotten me to thinking. Here we are living in the so called land of the free. Yet tell that to the over 2 million people in US jails of those 2 million people 58% thats over one million people, are in jail for nothing more than possesion of drugs. They didn’t threaten anyone, harm anyone, steal from anyone, all they did was to possess drugs or drug paraphenalia.

The Budget for the Federal Prison System alone is 4.8 Billion Dollars a year, and guess who is picking up the tab for it….Thats right you and me. That doesnt even count the hundreds of billions spent on state and local prisons, all faced with serious overcrowding.

Now remember that half of all that money is used to keep people who wanted to get high… in jail.

Jimmy Carter wasn’t a very effective President but I do remember something he said that stuck with me over the years; In talking about decriminalizing Marijuana President Carter said in effect ” The punishment for using the drug should not do more damage to the individual than the use of the drug itself”

How many peoples lives are ruined every day in this country because of “The War on Drugs”? How many people get arrested and as a result will find it hard to get jobs that make the American Dream possible?

Are we really doing society a favor by waging this war?

And while we are at it lets talk about all this war on nonsense…you cant wage war on a thing, including drugs, porn, terrorism or whatever dragon they create next so that they ( the politicians) might exercise more control over our lives and take away more of our freedoms. War is waged on people and on countries a war waged on anything else is a war waged against freedom.

Wouldn’t all that money we spend on incarcerating users be put to better use educating society as a whole and letting people make the choice to use drugs. Think about what legalization would mean. No more organized crime involvement in drugs, no more street sales, no more drug cartels, (unless you count Pfizer and Eli Lilly) more space in our prisons for offenders who have threatened, harmed or killed people, or stolen property. But then just maybe this isnt about drug use or curtailing it, maybe its about something else.

An old axiom in any kind of investigation says follow the money and you will find the motive.

The governemnt spends a lot of your money and mine fighting these so called wars.

Think about it

And vote Libertarian where you have the choice

Flower Tucci Not Dead:

Hysterical calls yesterday indicating that performer Flower Tucci was dead from an overdose turned out to be wrong. The report was credited to a local radio station. Panic broke out amoung her friends who weren’t able to contact her at all and feared the worst.

She was finally contacted around 2AM and was fine. Her friends were all very happy to learn that it had all been some sort of weird mstake.

If I Ran The Free Speech Coalition:

AVN Writes on their site:

“The conservative National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families is marking this week as Pornography Awareness Week.

The group is urging citizens to participate by writing to their local mayors and governors and urging them to publicly declare Oct. 30 through Nov. 5 as Pornography Awareness Week and also host a breakfast or luncheon for officials to issue a proclamation about the week. Citizens were also urged to write to the U.S. Attorney General and urge him to enforce federal obscenity laws, as well as plan a series of activities like a rally, training session or public assembly to draw attention to the issue. ”

Now here’s what the FSC SHOULD have done…I know that by the time AVN ran the story it was Oct 31 and Pornography Awareness Week had started….

BUT…What if we had hi-jacked Pornography Awareness Week and done a few regional luncheons where we invited the mainstream press and we made them aware of the truths about our industry?

Truths like your child is statistically and in fact in far more danger of being sexually molested by ALL of the following than by being harmed in any way by anyone in porn:

Members of Congress
Teachers
Clergy
Family Members
Total Strangers
Members of the American Family Association
Republicans
Democrats
Baby Sitters
Daycare Providers
School Employees
Church Employees

to name a few…why is it we consistantly sit back and refuse to act on golden opportunities to get the truth out about our industry? The mainstream press would have eaten this up….

Dirty Bob Writes:

This Baldwin character is getting away with a lot ’cause people aren’t looking at the big picture.
He is going to porn shoots, porn shows, and hanging out with porn stars … and they are patting him on the back for doing so!  Whatta racket!  How else can a name celeb get away with doing all these things without being put down or chastised by his peers and fans or condemmed by the press!
Amazing…

Is XBiz Making Inroads Into The X Biz?:

I have heard it said for years, That AVN needs some serious competition. Many have tried and up to now all have failed.

But that seems to be chasnging. XBiz has slowly built an organization of top notch writers, web professionals and businessmen. One look at XBiz.com compared to AVN.com tells the story. AVN is a slow loading top heavy website that still uses pop up ads, something everyone else abandoned years ago.

But it doesn’t stop there. While both sites are without a doubt vehicles for press releases above all else XBiz tends to have a bit more substance, editorially speaking.

Not to detract from AVN, the print magazine is still the 800 lb gorilla in the room and through Paul Fishbein AVN has solid relationships with everyone of the industry’s biggest players, these guys aren’t going to abandon AVN for XBiz anytime soon.

But they are looking, they do see XBiz as a viable advertising outlet. XBiz is aggressive and nowhere is that more apparent than on XFanz the fan portal for XBiz. This is an area that AVN could never quite get its arms around. AVN has long wanted a viable print magazine aimed at retail outlets but it simply hasn’t been able to make any inroads to that effect. Indeed it is why Tim Connelly was hired in the first place, and subsequently probably a large part of why he was let go.

Theres is a marketing concept called “The Rule of Three” basically it means that untill there are 3 companies competing for the marketplace the consumer will suffer because of market control. Untill now AVN has had a defacto monopoly as the adult industry news and info publication.

That appears to be changing, and we will all be better for it, not because there is anything bad about AVN but because we benefit from competition. I believe both of these companies will survive each pushing the other to be better.

BT Writes:

So, here’s an interesting way to look at the economics of porn for the performers (and their futures).

Porn stars create this myth of how glamourous the industry is and how much money their is to be made, yada, yada, yada.

Penthouse buys DaniAshe for $3 million. Ms. Ashe owns 25% of the company. Her take is $750,000. Not a bad day’s work, you say.

Except that when you sell the company, you’re selling the goose that laid the golden egg, so instead of living on the income from the company, she has the income from the sale.

Basic rule of thumb is that you can spend 5% a year of your invested assets without wiping out the assets - which leaves Ms. Ashe with an annual income of ….. $37,500.

What Do You Do When You Really Fall:

When you go from one of the most powerful men in porn to Kurt Lockwoods drummer, who do you blame?

Your former employer of course…I mean after all they shoved that coke up your nose while Kernes held you down didn’t they…

In case you haven’t figured it out we are talking about Tim Connelly here, he is suing AVN for wrongful termination.

What a crock….

Is Porn Going Mainstream A Good Thing?:

Lets face it, porn has become corporate. Gone are the days when we were the last of the true rebels, porn is now controlled by corporate conglomerates. Penthouse just purchased Danni Ashe and all of her assets, They did the same with Jill Kelly. Playboy now owns Jenna Jameson and her assets. Hustler bought VCA and it’s assets…And everyone is wondering why porn is in a slump…It isn’t fun anymore.

There is nothing unique about it…the girls are all interchangeable, even gonzo is cookie cutter porn. There is precious little real talent in the ranks of directors and actors and almost no talent at all in the ranks of the writers.

Hell I’d bet you could lay the soundtrack off of pretty much any gonzo scene on top of another and it would match perfectly…BORING….

Speaking Of Jill Kelly:

Fat chance of winning your lawsuit baby…You didn’t file your trademark til last January…well after the bankruptcy and well after JKP assumed ownership of it as a corporate entity.
