I’m not condoning the fact that Marcus’ altered his STD test last year. But it’s easy to understand why he (and likely other performers) might do this kind of thing. In their eyes, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if they happen to infect another performer with a curable STD considering the industry is already chock full of STD infected performers. Marcus and other porn veterans probably believe that catching curable diseases can be part of the job on occasion. He was just stupid enough to get caught and become the industry’s easiest person to scapegoat.
According to a study that was reported back in the L.A. Times last November, a survey showed that 28% of 168 L.A. County pornstars had gonorrhea, Chlamydia or both. That 28% figure is equal to a whopping 47 total performers! I believe last summer’s syphilis outbreak produced approximately 5 performers who were infected with the disease—and subsequently porn production temporarily shutdown in L.A. So why has there never been a halt to porn production after the startling gonorrhea and Chlamydia statistics were revealed? Shouldn’t a number as high as 47 performers be considered a serious outbreak? Are gonorrhea and Chlamydia any less dangerous than syphilis? These are 2 STDs in which there have been regular tests done on performers throughout the years–yet these diseases are still common in the industry. So why is there no investigation being done to find out if some performers have been fudging their gonorrhea and Chlamydia tests?
Make no mistake about it, what Marcus did was dumb and wreckless but I wouldn’t put him in the Mark Wallace category simply because the HIV virus is an incurable STD. And that’s not to marginalize the seriousness of syphilis. But gonorrhea and Chlamydia are also serious STDs. And the aforementioned survey results indicate the industry has serious problems but nobody is taking the blame or halting production so STDs can be contained. All I’m saying is that if anyone believes Marcus is an evil bastard for his actions last year, then obviously there’s a whole lot more evil bastards (and bitches) still active in the industry; they just haven’t been identified yet.
KV: You REALLY think that 47 performers make up 28% of the total performers? Not even close! That is why surveys that show that there are only 168 LA performers are way off…
No telling how new girls that are still relatively “clean” skew that % of performers with diseases. Another question to ask of those porn stars with more then 5 years in the business might find 100% of them have caught a social disease of some kind (unless they were condom only). Would not surprise me at all.

I believe 168 was the total number of performers sampled; 47 is 28% of 168. The percentage of pornstars who have gonorrhea and chlamydia might be higher if they were to do a survey ALL the perfomers in LA County.
My point is that some performers are working while infected with STDs. And I’d be willing to bet that more than a few KNOW they are infected. They just haven’t been caught.

Those were 168 performers who went to West Oaks Urgent Care over a three month period. The majority of the 47 infected had worked within the past 30 days and had current clean industry tests.
Anohter study was done at TTS a few months ago but has not been released yet. They did rectal and oral testing in additionot the regular urine test. The routine industry testing method would have missed infections in 41 of the 47 infected people in the first study. And Dianne Duke says the industy’s testing system is “Exhaustive.”
KV814, as far as I am concerned anyone knowingly working with VD (other than maybe herpes) deserves to be shot! Certainly those people should not be allowed to work for a US porn producer again. I exempt herpes because it is hard to know if you are transmissible or not and most porn performers already have it. Herpes also isn’t a life or death issue –Syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea are a life or death issue. Herpes infected talent should only work while on a course of antiviral medications designed to almost eliminate transmission and outbreaks.
There is one person I would like to give VD, though. That is Fabian Thylmann. Speaking of, he has been quiet as a church mouse since getting busted by the police, even after the Mr. Syphilis scandal. Manwin has imploded since the arrest — maybe Fabifuck has something worse than VD already to deal with — like the distinct possibility of going to prison for years of nightly ass reaming and forced cum swallowing by the five bubba crowd.
The way it was phrased would tend to make on believe that there are only 168 performers – I thought that was misleading, but you cleared it up. One big fallacy about this number, obviously, is that of the 168 who were tested over this 3 month period…how many came in to get tested but are not actively filming? And if they were coming in for the test but not active in the biz, why else would they come in…unless they wanted to be tested for, perhaps, working out of the biz…? Bottom line is there is no real way to know exactly, or even closely, the correct number. Doomsday Sayers will say it is much worse, Others may say much less for the outside the biz reason expressed previously.
70% of the infected performers in this study had worked within 30 days of being testd and had clean industry tests. To the above poster, every issue you bring up is addressed in the actual report. You also ask, why else would they come in, which leads me to beleive you do not know the role that West Oaks plays in the industry, which is common knowledge to people in the industry. Of the total of 96 infections(many had gonnoreah or chlamydia in the rectum, throat and vagina, only 36 of these 96 infections would have been caught if they used only the industry testing method. Were Jessica Bangkok, Debi Diamond and Nicki Hunter offered up as human sacrifice in the recent Manwin purge? One might have to conclude.
After it was revealed by Lisa Ann that Mr. Marcus performed a sex scene on Bangkok’s radio show, Manwin wasted no time in firing Bangkok, Diamond and Hunter for conduct unbecoming on air, i.e., sex, which is kinda hilarious because that’s what these shows are about.
Manwin, though, is acting like this whole Marcus-thing was news to them. Which is equally funny to hear in light of Rebecca Bardoux’s comments on her Internet show Friday night. Bardoux told her fans that she was at the Manwin/Playboy building this past week for an interview with Christy Canyon and Ginger Lynn.
Says Bardoux: “I’ll tell you – that building is just beautiful. And you cannot get in. You can sit there and blow the security guard for two days and you will not get up those stairs. It is tight security. If you’re not on the list it’s really tight security there. The guy kept saying do you know what this building is? I said yeah I know what this building is. They were acting like it was a vault or something…or The White House.”
The obvious question is, did Manwin begin these security measures AFTER the Marcus affair, or have they been in place all along? If the answer is “all along,” then Manwin would have had to know that Marcus was there. Which makes them culpable and subject to lawsuits.
In fact, a little birdie told me that there will be one filed against Manwin for what just happened.
