Companies Like Lethal Hardcore are Looking To Set Themselves Apart

In this day and age porners are taking it on the chin, the money that once flowed freely is now a lot tighter and traditional DVD companies are looking for ways to bring the customer back.  That generally works well for the customer.  I know that I still get lots of inquiries from people who would like to attend a shooting and are willing to pay to do so.  Being in Georgia where that sort of thing is more risky from a legal standpoint I avoid it,  If yer on my set you have a job.

Now Stoney Curtis has been around the biz for at least as long as I have, longer I think and he is a good guy, he is an advertiser here and I am proud of that, Lethal Hardcore makes a good product and they treat their customers well. So now they are inviting their customers for a chance to watch a shoot live and in person, meet the performers and generally create a memory of a fun day on a porn set.

If it brings more people to their product thas a good thing, it’s als a good thing because some porners like Stoney Curtis and Porno Dan are starting to think outside the box about how they can maybe bring forgotten customers back.

I have a lot of people who read this site and I would like to hear from you.  Specially if you were once a customer who bought or rented a lot of porn but no longer do so…I’d like to know why.  Honestly why, don’t pull any punches….You have my word that I wont share any info about you or your identity unless you specifically say it is OK to do so.

I have some theories and I know that some of them are right but others I am unsure about…email me and tell me why or post a comment on this thread…have you moved from DVD to internet…if so what do you like better about the internet porn, have you given up porn altogether?  why?

Meantime Kudos to Lethal Hardcore for not just ding the same old same old…click their ads and see if they have something you might be interested in…they support us by advertising here so lets support them ny walking into the store and having a look around…who knows maybe you will be my correspondent and write a story here about your first day ever on a porn set!

  1. Bringing fans on set since 2007, i hate to say i forecast it, but…i forecast it. Kudos to Lethal Hardcore from me too, i have to say.

  2. Not that its a huge deal, but in some areas once you charge money for people to watch a performance you are now operating at ‘theatre’ and thats a whole new set of permits and such. And the insurance for the place of business, whether its a rented location, studio, goes way up when you become a theatre with paying patrons. But since when does any porn company care about permits and insurance, let alone any other law that might cost them and extra dollar.

  3. Much of todays porn is simply about humiliation and degradation. It has nothing to d with sexuality or erotica. The majority of producers and directors today could direct an EROTIC film if they tried,,,and then of courst youhave DIRECTORS who just put the light setting on the camera they dont even know how to operate on the ‘manal’ setting. And then you have these porn chicks turned director who know as much about directing a film as Bozo does about quantam physics.

Using condoms does not fit in withthe degradation and humiliation theme,,,a condom shows an ounce of repsect for the participants, and lord knows that could never be tolerated in todays porn.

  4. I used to buy a lot of dvd an bluray’s from a local movie gallery store but when the rental chain closed down I lost the ability to do so. I had tried xrent an it to left a lot to be desired so now I do legal streaming an vod. I liked physical discs because you feel as if you own the product instead of feeling like it could be removed at anytime.

  5. Mike, I moved from DVD to the Internet. My main reason is that I got screwed over by a few porn companies that had once been extremely reliable. My last(and worst) experience was being screwed over by Excalibur Films out of Fullerton, CA. I had been a member(yes, a bonifide MEMBER!) of their company ever since 1985 and until 2010 they provided fast and friendly service. Over the years I successfully ordered VHS, DVD’s, and even adult Laserdiscs from them with no problem whatsoever. I either ordered via snailmail, then email, then their website..if there were issues, which were rare, I remember they always answered their phone and fixed the problem right away.

After 2010, it was a different story. I don’t know if Excalibur Films was sold to another owner or if the XXX downturn changed their modus operandi but they definitely went into the gutter. My last negative experience with them was when I didn’t receive ANY of my online order and when I called or emailed them they’d jokingly say they’d fix the problem right away and ship out the next day, that type of thing. It was very condescending “yes sir, we will get on that right away and provide you the details”. Never to be heard from again until I contacted them first. After awhile, I got the message and just moved on. Like I said I don’t know what happened to them but they were great from 1985-2010ish.

  6. I’m going to show my age here – inviting civilians onset to watch a live filming feels a little like an upscale version of the live sex shows you used to watch in Times Square (or that you can watch on a webcam) or like a scene from Behind The Green Door. That said, I think its a great idea – you wonder how they price it and how, uhm, they provide for relief for the attendee – let’s face it, no one watches porn because they think of it as cinematic art. Details, details.

As to the other question, I used to buy VHS and DVDs. Now, I download scenes onto a computer, although, to be honest, I really do prefer to watch them on DVD. The change in habit comes for a couple of reasons.

First, there is no adult bookstore in the town in which I live, and, since I live in a small town and am pretty well known, I wouldn’t buy in one even if there was. So, I used to purchase “smut” in bookstore near airports when I was traveling and hope that no one inspected my luggage. Or, I would surreptitiously rent a VHS or DVD at my local video store and then copy the tape because adult VHS and even DVDs weren’t protected. I had one of those GoVideo machines that let you do that. Truth be told, I always felt little dirty going into an adult bookstore.

Then, I discovered Excalibur online and ordered both VHS and then DVDs from them. All the time. It was easy, relatively affordable all things considered, and they were prompt and professional. The biggest concern was that the mailman would accidentally deliver something to my neighbor and not me.

Meanwhile, I probably haven’t ordered a DVD online or rented a DVD at a local video store in nearly 10 years. So what changed ……

As far as renting, my daughters friends were old enough to work in the local video store starting about 10 years ago. I didn’t want to be labeled as my daughter’s perv Dad.

Second, content changed – as porn went gonzo, I was typically interested in one or two scenes on a disc and not the whole disc. So …. why buy the cow when all you want is the milk; why buy a truckload of milk when all you want is a little sour cream.

I still pay for content. I will sign up for a month of Brazzers or Naughty America just to download a scene that features a performer who catches my fancy figuring that over the course of the month, there will be othe content that catches my eye, or, I can go back through the archives and download scenes I missed while my last membership had lapsed.

Don’t know if that makes sense, but, its how it played out.
